The Unbearable Nakedness of Hyperbolic Reporting

According to GlobalWarmingClearinghouse, my headlines are a “good example of hyperbolic reporting!“.

Shall I take that as a compliment, a criticism, or both?

Well, I confess…some time ago I did publish a post on Tits, and yes, it proved for obvious reasons particularly popular, even if some new readers may have been disillusioned upon discovering the aforementioned Tits were just a type of birds.

In the hyperbole stakes, Maurizio, you are clearly lagging behind some of the world’s finest practitioners of the art, however:-

Mark Lynas: “A third of species worldwide face extinction as the climate changes – the worst mass extinction since the end of the dinosaurs.”

Johann Hari: “Imagine if tomorrow the CIA and MI6 discover that Osama bin Laden has invented an incredible new weapon… This machine exists. It is called global warming – and we are our own Bin Laden.”

Al Gore: “Our world faces a true planetary emergency.”

David Suzuki: “We’re in a giant car heading towards a brick wall…”

James Hansen: “If we cannot stop the building of more coal-fired power plants, those coal trains will be death trains – no less gruesome than if they were boxcars headed to crematoria, loaded with uncountable irreplaceable species.”

And my favourite:

Ted Turner: “We’ll be eight degrees hotter in ten, not ten but 30 or 40 years and basically none of the crops will grow. Most of the people will have died and the rest of us will be cannibals.”

Top these, if you can!

I gotta admit, there’s nothing like a great pair of “tits” to draw my attention!!
